The Auto Accident That Changed My Life

There I was an 18 year old, minding my own business driving my Dad’s car to high school. I was a senior, playing varsity water polo and tennis and life was wonderful. The whole course of my life changed at a stop light when an attractive female underclassman from my high school plowed into the back of my 1965 Mustang with me at the wheel. Maybe she was distracted by my car, but probably not, whatever the reason, my life took a radical turn. Like many of you, I injured my neck in an automobile accident and sought treatment. I went to my family doctor who, after a two minute assessment of my problem, wrote out a prescription for pain pills and anti-inflammatory meds, and instructed me to have my mom rub my neck. Well, I don’t want to say anything about my mom, but neither the drugs nor her rub did anything.

LOOK WHERE I ENDED UP!

My new sister-in-law’s brother was a chiropractor. Somehow I found myself channeled into his office. Still being relatively new to adulthood, I did not have much to say in the matter. It turned out that my neck pain was due to whiplash (he assessed it and treated it etc…). It was then that I decided that chiropractic was my destiny. I was so fascinated by him doing what he did without drugs or surgery, though what he did seemed to be technical and artful. It was amazing how well it worked, and I was sold. So I began the long arduous process of becoming a chiropractor. Well, actually I got sidelined. When I got into chiropractic school I became so fascinated with radiology, the reading and evaluation of x-ray and higher diagnostics such as MRI. For the next ten years after chiropractic school I became a radiologist and practiced radiology.

Somehow, something was missing. I am a people person; I thrive on interacting with people and helping them. That’s what was missing, and through the encouragement of my family, I took the plunge in 1999 and started my own chiropractic practice.

FAMILY AND TRUST

You have seen my television ads, “My dad can help” My daughter was in my office when we were filming the commercial and we decided to build it around her. That is important because my patients will tell you, I am all about family and trust.
